Prompt: From the Sidelines (Contest #318)
I've been submitting short stories (1,000-3,000 words) for a little over a year. It's great practice. Short fiction, though, is much different than a novel. There's exposition, quick ramp up of action to climax, and denouement. I love writing short stories. I love reading short stories. There are so many wildly talented authors submitting their work each week that I was completely gob-smacked to learn my story, "The Little Bear," had won.
